| The
Bruar offers guests virtually the privacy and sanctuary of an island.
Located nine miles from the public road, accessed from a track which
is passable with care by all types of vehicle, the situation is
both peaceful and therapeutic. The beat covers over 13,000 acres
of moorland mostly over 2000 ft.
Bruar
Lodge provides accommodation for up to 18 guests in comfortable
but traditional surroundings. Although the facilities have been
modernised to provide convenience, many of the original features
of this sporting lodge have been retained thereby complementing
the experience of visiting this unspoilt and inspiring part of the
Estate.
As
with Forest Lodge, each day’s journey onto the moor starts
with a climb from the lodge along a pony track but once on the high
ground the contours ease and the views become dramatic.
The beat is managed by one headkeeper who lives by the lodge with
his wife who is the housekeeper. Mixed sporting weeks start in August
and continue until the end of the stags in October. One party can
go out each day however guests can also enjoy the stocked hill loch
within easy walking distance of the lodge together with salmon fishing
for 3 rods on the River Tilt for two days. Additional stalking on
the neighbouring beat of Clunes can be included subject to availability.
