Atholl Estates offers some of the best opportunities for country sports that you will find anywhere in Scotland. Extending to over 145,000 acres of farmland, woodland and moorland, the Estates are also perfectly located at the foot of the Cairngorms – within just one and half hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow – and yet provide a genuine Highland sporting experience.

The Estates are divided into six sporting management areas called ‘beats’ all of which offer a different mix of sport, scenery and accommodation. The staff who manage each beat work closely with our farming, forestry and ranger departments as part of an integrated team who aim to conserve and enhance our natural habitat. The long term objectives of this management ensure that the sport we offer is in balance with its habitat which also provides for some beautiful scenery and an abundance of wildlife.

Most of our sport is offered to parties as a weekly package of walked up grouse shooting, open moorland stag stalking and river salmon fishing with guests staying at the shooting lodge which serves the beat. There is also limited availability of driven grouse and roe deer stalking which can occasionally be included during the week depending on stocks. The beats can accommodate between five and ten sporting guests at a time but with the lodges providing between 12 and 20 beds. Many parties choose to make it a family event bringing children and friends to share the scenery and visit local attractions.

Lodge guests are permitted free access to Blair Castle for the duration of their stay and of course the opportunity to roam through the Estate's beautiful countryside. Our Ranger Service is freely available to help with enquiries and direct you to the many miles of Estate waymarked trails which lead to some of the most scenic areas in Perthshire. For those who prefer to ride, our trekking centre offers daily treks or hacks to cater for all abilities.

Salmon and hill loch fishing can be let independently by the day or week subject to availability.
