Founded on Atholl Estates in 1987, Lovat Cooking, www.lovatcooking.com, can supply residential cooks/chefs for your holiday or sporting destination. Waiting staff are also available to ensure excellent service for all occasions.

The 10th Duke, George Iain, supported Lovat Cooking and hired cooks for his private dining room – he liked his grouse cooked rare!

During the early l990s Lovat Cooking supported the Blair Castle Horse Trials catering in the sponsors tent and the following year sponsored a cross-country course jump.

Supporting local traders has always been of paramount importance: Atholl Glens delicious meats were demonstrated by Anne Fraser to journalists from The Times at Marble Lodge.

Liz Kitely

Liz Kiteley is a self employed freelance chef of over 25 years experience. After gaining City and Guilds qualifications at college she has, amongst other places, worked in several stately homes in Britain and is now based in the Scottish Borders, doing smaller more exclusive dinner parties and lunches, some corporate work, freezer cooking or preparing dishes for clients to collect/cook at home. Whilst most of her work is locally based, she also travels across Scotland and North Northumberland for shooting/fishing house parties.

Liz specializes in traditional dishes with a twist while keeping abreast of current trends. As much as possible and within reason, everything is homemade and I try and use seasonal local produce.

If the kitchen is running happily it goes a long way towards making the entire house party a success. Liz is more than happy to work with the client on menus, format and a degree of autonomy is much appreciated.

Aaron Hartman and his team are proud to offer a fine dining experience in the privacy of your rented accommodation.

What better way to celebrate a special occasion than to have a personal chef and waiter come to your rented accommodation and set the mood for a night of pure indulgence. We provide all the trimmings of a top class restaurant: excellent food and service as well as high quality linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware.


Each course will be introduced by your chef and culinary experience second to none can be enjoyed by you and your guests.


You will not need to do a thing, just sit back, relax and let Aaron and his team wine and dine you. At the end of the evening we will clean down and leave the premises as if we were never there!


All menus are priced on a per person basis and include all costs of equipment, staff and ingredients. Menus start from as little as £25 per person. £400 minimum spend applies.

Isla Mackenzie

Isla has 7 years experience working in lodges all over Scotland. She is based very nearby Blair Atholl and has cooked in all the lodges on the Atholl Estate. Isla uses the very best seasonal produce sourced from local butchers, fruit and vegetable merchants and fish and game suppliers. She's willing to cook for any size of party and is comfortable cooking many different types of cuisine. Alicia Lawson

Alicia Lawson is a freelance cook working in her university holidays. She is qualified as a cook from Ballymaloe Cookery School and has since cooked in lodges all over Scotland and has done a ski season as a chalet girl. Whether you are on a relaxed family holiday or an intense sporting week, Alicia offers a flexible and professional service to make sure that your holiday is as enjoyable and stress free as possible.

Ben Sutcliffe

Born in Inverness, Ben has been cooking in Britain and Europe for 14 years, starting with a three year apprenticeship at Gut Kaden Land and Country Club, home of the PGA German Tour. Later at Margaretenhof, a sister resort in Bavaria he became sous chef. Back in Scotland Ben has worked all over the Highlands and Islands as an independent chef cooking on prestigious sporting estates and private houses requiring the highest standards of service. With a passion for good food and high standards he loves outdoors and is also a keen fly fisherman.

Kay Alston is a freelance chef who started out cooking in chalets in the Alps a few years ago and enjoyed 6 seasons in various different resorts.
