Atholl Estates joins Cairngorms National Park

Atholl Estates staff, local business owners, members of Blair Atholl Tourism Association and the children of Blair Atholl Primary School gathered at The Atholl Country Life Museum today for the official celebration of Highland Perthshire’s inclusion in the Cairngorms National Park. North Tayside MSP John Swinney and David Green, Cairngorms National Park Convenor unveiled a visitor information board depicting the newly extended Cairngorms National Park map.

The ceremony followed a long-running campaign by local people and politicians, who believed the area’s inclusion in the park was vital for tourism and the economy. Changes have now been made that extend the boundary line south to include Blair Atholl and mountain ranges across to the Spittal of Glenshee. The north half of Atholl Estates, which stretches from Glen Bruar in the north to Auldclune in the south now falls within the boundary of the Park.
